The skin consists of the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis (subcutaneous layer).

The epidermis is the outermost layer, made of stratified squamous epithelium.

The dermis is the middle layer, composed of dense irregular connective tissue.

The hypodermis is the deepest layer, made of adipose and loose connective tissue.
