Back
The General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS) is a three-stage process that describes the physiological changes the body goes through when under stress. The stages are: Alarm reaction, where a stressor is perceived and the body prepares to respond; Resistance, where the body attempts to adapt to the stressor by releasing stress hormones; and Exhaustion, where the body's resources become depleted leading to symptoms such as raised blood pressure and heart rate, and a compromised immune system.
